"Growing my clients wealth is important. Money purchases necessary things. However, without life, you have nothing."
After graduating from University of Maryland College Park with BS degrees in Agricultural Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Neal began his career as a telecom engineer. While working, he earned an MBA Financial Focus from Johns Hopkins University. This financial focus enabled Neal to move into the financial services field after the telecommunications market place correction of 2001.
For more than 15 years, Neal followed his mentor’s guidance. He helped his clients using Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT), which included asset allocation and rebalancing. In 2008, he watched as his portfolio and the portfolios of almost everyone else lost money when the market dropped. He realized that simply providing outstanding financial guidance was not enough.
Neal moved to Horter Investment Management for the tactical approach to money management that they offer. Horter believes in providing their clients with a system designed to be low risk and have low volatility(1). They utilize a retirement designed money management platform, which strives to be defensive in bad times and opportunistic in good times(2). Neal works with a Planning and Allocation Specialist, allowing him to focus on his clients as their lives change and grow.
Neal is happily married to his beautiful wife (princess Buttercup), Terry. Together they have a son, and Neal has twin daughters from his previous marriage. Neal actively participates with his religious organization and affiliated charities.

(1) Your investment advisor may recommend third-party money managers who utilize investment strategies designed to minimize portfolio volatility and reduce the risk of declines in account values. Low Risk or Low Volatility strategies are generally defined as strategies that have a 10-year maximum drawdown of less than 10%. Like any other investment strategy, this approach entails risks, including the risk that client accounts can still lose value and the risk that a defensive position may, at any given point in time, prevent client accounts from appreciating in value.
(2) There is no guarantee that managers will be able to avoid future market losses by going risk off to cash. In addition, holding cash may carry the risk that a manager will not be invested during periods of positive market performance.
