Dr. Hisla Bates, MD, is a board-certified, Harvard trained Pediatric and Adult psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of severe mental illness and managed care. Dr. Bates completed training in Primary Care Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, and General Psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. She then completed her Child and Adolescent psychiatry Fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts General Hospital program in the Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. Bates has studied with Tal Ben-Shahar, Ph.D., and is certified in Positive Psychology. She has an integrative and holistic approach to the treatment of mental illness. Dr. Bates incorporates Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and the expressive and creative arts while treating children and adults. She holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design in Fashion Design and is an artist and printmaker who enjoys photography and filmmaking as well. Dr. Bates incorporates all of her various skills in her practice as a psychiatrist and coach.
Dr. Bates is the President of Heart to Heart Psychiatry, P.C. Her heart-centered approach caters to creative youth and adults. She is a master communicator who inspires trust and honest dialogue organically. Now that she's joined Metro Collaborative, we are grateful for her commitment to working with other independent, innovative, and integrative clinicians.
